Hosting Hotline: Why We’re Sunsetting the Hotline and What Comes Next (Episode 534)

A behind-the-scenes look at why Thanks for Visiting is shifting focus and how hosts can apply “less but better” to their own businesses.

For years, the Hosting Hotline was one of the most personal ways Sarah and Annette connected with hosts.

Hearing your voices. Listening to real-time challenges. Helping you work through questions as they happened. It was meaningful, memorable, and incredibly special — for both sides of the microphone.

But as Thanks for Visiting evolved, something became clear.

The questions coming in were getting bigger. More nuanced. More tied to individual markets, financials, guest avatars, and long-term goals. And quick answers — without context — were no longer enough.

Again and again, Sarah and Annette found themselves saying the same thing:

“I wish I had more information.”
“I need to see the listing.”
“We need to understand your numbers.”

Hosting isn’t a side hustle. It’s a business. And real businesses require depth, data, and strategy.

Why the Hosting Hotline Had to Change

The Hosting Hotline was created to connect, to listen, and to help hosts feel less alone. And it did exactly that.

But over time, it became clear that the most meaningful transformations weren’t happening in quick call-ins. They were happening in spaces where hosts could share full context — dashboards, listings, challenges, and goals — and get strategic guidance in return.

That’s where deeper change happens.

Producing the Hosting Hotline took significant time and resources. And while it delivered value, Sarah and Annette realized that energy could be better spent creating experiences that truly move the needle for hosts.

The Power of “Less but Better”

In 2025, Sarah and Annette adopted a guiding philosophy: less but better.

Instead of adding more content, more formats, and more noise, they chose to refine, focus, and improve what actually works.

That decision wasn’t easy. Letting go of something familiar never is. But it was necessary — not just for the podcast, but for the sustainability of their businesses and the hosts they serve.

And the results spoke for themselves. By doing less, but doing it better, revenue grew. Focus sharpened. Impact increased.

What Comes Next for Hosts

Sunsetting the Hosting Hotline does not mean less support. It means better support.

That includes:

  • Deeper weekly podcast episodes
  • Expanded YouTube content with visuals, breakdowns, and real examples
  • Immersive Thanks for Visiting Bootcamps where hosts share real data and get real-time coaching
  • Strategic Host, a high-touch experience for hosts ready to treat their business like a business

The goal is simple: fewer surface-level answers, more meaningful progress.

A Question for You

This episode ends by turning the question back to you.

What is something in your hosting business that you need to sunset?

What could you do less of — but better — to increase focus, profitability, and sustainability?

Sometimes growth doesn’t come from adding more. It comes from having the courage to let something go.
