The Airbnb Feature You’re Not Checking (But Should Be)

If bookings have slowed or your property seems buried in search results, it might be time to dig into a little-known section of your Airbnb dashboard: the Listing Issues tab.

Hosts Sarah and Annette recently discovered this feature when one of their beautifully maintained properties was flagged by Airbnb. The issue? A guest tried to bring kittens—despite their clearly stated “dogs only” policy. Even though they handled the situation with care and refunded the guest, Airbnb marked it as a “forced cancellation,” triggering a warning on their account.

That experience—and another involving a guest upset about not staying in a shared space—prompted this week’s episode, which breaks down what Airbnb’s listing issues mean and why they matter.

Here are some of the biggest takeaways:

• Listing issues aren’t always obvious. They might come from AI, not human feedback.
• Private reviews count. Even if it doesn’t show up publicly, it could impact your ranking.
• Your PMS might show red/yellow/green lights. Those indicators reflect listing health and may hint at hidden demerits.
• Words matter. Even saying “cancel” in your messages can trigger Airbnb’s bots.
